Timothy Quinlan is an orchestral trumpeter, chamber musician and teacher living in Victoria, British Columbia where he is in high demand as a performer and clinician. While performing regularly with the Victoria Symphony, the Pacific Opera, and the Vancouver Island Symphony, Timothy is also on faculty at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Camosun College, Brentwood College and Minstrels Conservatory of Music, maintaining a busy performing schedule and a very large trumpet studio.
As a trumpet soloist, Timothy has given recitals and solo performances throughout Canada. This has included concerto appearances with Orchestra London and the University of Victoria Symphony Orchestra, where he was the winner of their 2006 Concerto Competition, and with the University of Victoria Wind Ensemble where his brass quintet gave the Canadian Premiere of Eric Ewazen's Shadowcatcher.
Timothy is dedicated to commissioning and performing new music for the trumpet. His latest commissions of David Snow and Max Murray have lead to the founding of Qpress, an online publishing company of new music for trumpet. Founded by Timothy, it will help build an online community of trumpeters, while connecting musicians and composers for new collaborations.
Timothy completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario, studying with Erik Schultz and Shawn Spicer, and continued his study at the University of Victoria, where he completed his Masters degree in trumpet performance with Louis Ranger.
